Thank you for your interest in studying at the Department of Materials Science!
On this page we have put together all relevant information on application and admission to our courses in Materials Science and Nanotechnology.

The department offers two study programmes, both on the bachelor’s level and the master’s level.

Each of the study programmes has its own website. The links above take you to the websites of the respective programmes.
The bachelor programmes Materials Science and Nanotechnology start annually in winter term. There are no admission restrictions for either of them.
However, as an international student, you have to formally apply for a place at FAU.

Admission to the master programmes Materials Science and Nanotechnology require a first qualifying degree (generally a BSc).
If you are still in the final phase of your Bachelor’s degree and have thus far achieved at least 140 ECTS, admission to the master programme is possible with conditions.
You will find an overview of the admission requirements in §43 (Materials Science) and §41 (Nanotechnology) of the respective examination regulations.
Applications for admission are open until January 15th for studies beginning the following summer term and through June 15th to start the following winter term.
