Nanotechnology
In winter 2008, the Faculty of Engineering of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) established an innovative study programme in Nanotechnology. The new programme adds an important field to the hitherto existing study options in science and engineering.
The Nanotechnology degree programme lies between science and engineering, providing students with a rigorous education in basic science in order to address new applications in technology.
While lectures are initially held in German, the language of instruction switches to English in later semesters. Special courses are offered to allow a smoother transition. English is the predominant international language of science and prepares students for future employment in an international setting.
The large number of professors and scientific staff involved as well as the comparatively small number of students ensure intensive professional and personal support.
